The River Boulevard closure between Cliff Avenue and Southeastern Avenue will be extended to Friday, September 3, 2010 due to delays caused by Tuesday morning’s rain.

River Boulevard has been closed to all traffic since Monday, August 23, 2010 to allow the Burlington Northern – Santa Fe Railroad to perform railroad crossing improvements near the intersection of 18th Street and Southeastern Avenue.

River Boulevard is now expected to reopen to one lane of traffic in each direction on the new westbound lanes at 2:00pm on Friday, September 3, 2010 – weather permitting. There is not a signed detour route established for this closure. Motorists should continue to use Tenth Street, 12th Street, or 26th Street as an alternate route.

The overall completion date for the project is October 29, 2010. The prime contractor for this project is T&R Contracting, Inc. of Sioux Falls.
