Detective Division
The Detective Division is comprised of a team of 45 dedicated officers and civilians who are tasked with conducting the followup investigations of reported crimes. Those crimes range from a simple $5 shoplifting theft to a complex homicide investigation.
The four sections of the Detective Division are:
A case assignment breakdown by unit found that Crimes Against Persons had 4,663 cases and 302 Department of Social Services Child Protection referrals, Property Crimes/Fraud with 7,137 cases (PCS 5,533/Fraud 1,604), Narcotics had 1,510 cases, and the Crime Lab handled 500 cases. All told, there were 14,112 cases assigned to the division for investigation in 2007.
