Sex Offender Registration/Crime Analyst

The Sex Offender Registration/Crime Analyst Detective is responsible for the registering of sex offenders as provided by South Dakota state law. Sex offenders are required to register every six months and to have their information regarding their employment and current home address verified annually. The Sex Offender Registration/Crime Analyst Detective is responsible for maintaining necessary computerized files to assist in the registering, verifications, and tracking of sex offenders. This Detective will accurately maintain and disseminate registration data for the Sioux Falls Police Department, the SD Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

The Sex Offender Registration/Crime Analyst Detective is assigned to the Detective Division CAP Sergeant. This Detective is also responsible for tracking specific criminal activity, identifying crime patterns, gathering criminal intelligence information, and maintaining and updating the Criminal Intelligence files. He is responsible for the timely dissemination of statistical and intelligence information to members of the department and other law enforcement agencies.
