Recycle Sioux Falls!

Solid Waste Disposal, Hazardous Waste, and Recycling

The City of Sioux Falls generates over 300 million pounds of garbage each year. Of this amount, over one half can be reused or recycled.

Solid waste can be divided into three main categories with regards to disposal methods:

  • Garbage and rubble that gets hauled to the landfill.
  • Recyclables.
  • Hazardous household materials that require special disposal methods.

This area is broken down into these three categories to better explain how to determine the differences in these items, and what methods are required to properly dispose of them.

Remember, if everyone takes the extra minute or two to properly dispose of waste materials, we benefit by maximizing the use of our landfill, and protecting the environment!
