85th Street: Louise Avenue to Minnesota AvenueThis arterial street currently is a gravel road. There is existing development on the north side of 85th Street and new development on the south side prompting the need to bring this street up to urban standards. This street will be constructed as a half of a street with the ultimate section being a four lane with a landscaped median and sidewalks. This year's project will be constructing two lanes with turn lanes at the major intersections, sidewalks, street lights, and underground utilities. The project started on April 10 with totally closing the street off to through traffic. The detour route is 69th Street. The contractor is working on curb, gutter, and preparing the surface for paving. The project is expected to be completed by early November.
