This project started in 2007 with the realignment of Sycamore Avenue and the grading for the railroad embankment. In 2008, 57th Street will be widened from Cliff to Sycamore Avenue. The project continues on schedule with paving operations nearing completion and sidewalk, traffic signals, and median work remaining. In addition, the area between Sycamore Avenue and Bahnson Avenue is totally closed to traffic. Drivers are detoured to 41st Street from Bahnson Avenue to Sycamore Avenue. This project will install traffic signals at Lewis Avenue, Southeastern Avenue and Bahnson Avenue. The street will be constructed as a four lane with landscaped median section, allowing U-turns at the signalized intersections.
