The 41st Street Corridor Study conducted in 2000 identified the 49th Street Extension from Minnesota Avenue to Western Avenue as a top priority to provide an alternate route for commuters. The City has been actively working with property owners to acquire the right of way necessary to construct the street. This first phase of the project is currently under design and will be constructed as the property is acquired and funding is available. The ultimate section will be a four lane with a landscaped median and sidewalks. This project is currently on hold for funding purposes.
