The City of Sioux Falls has received federal money to relocate the rail yard from the Downtown Area to a location near the Rice Street and Timberline Avenue intersection. Currently this project is in the environmental  assessment documentation phase. Final design is anticipated to begin in early 2010. Construction may start in mid to late 2010 pending all of the necessary land and environmental documentation approvals are obtained.
