Street/Utility Maintenance
The Street/Utilities Divisions of Public Works provide a number of essential services to the public.

Mission Statement
To provide for the maintenance and repair of all public streets within the corporate limits of the city and to maintain and repair the water distribution and sewer collection systems.

Division Summary:

Street Maintenance tasks comprise of street overlay, crack sealing, seal coating, curb/gutter repair, storm inlet repair, service cut repair, street sweeping, pothole patching, gravel road maintenance, minor bridge repair, and winter snow removal activities.

Traffic Maintenance is responsible for all traffic control devices such as crosswalks, street lines, signs, and signals.

Water & Sewer Utilities Maintenance is responsible for water and sewer system repairs and performs all water and sewer taps along with the utility location work for the system.

Revenue is generated from service cut repair work done by various contractors. The Utility Division generates revenue from taps done for new construction. Other Public Works divisions are also billed for work done by these two divisions. The majority of the division’s revenue comes from the frontage property tax and the wheel tax.
