The Street Maintenance Team is charged with maintenance of approximately 3,800 lane miles of streets in the city of Sioux Falls. This involves snow removal and drainage cleanup in the winter months to street sweeping, street patching, grading, concrete repair, and levee maintenance during the summer months.

The Street Front Foot Assessment from 1996 to 2004 was $0.50 per front foot. This assessment is collected on all frontages (short sides only) less City and County owned frontages. No private streets are part of this assessment. In April of 2004 an internal study was completed to determine whether a rate adjustment was needed to offset increasing costs. It was determined at that time to increase the street front foot assessment $0.10 per year for five years.

The Street Front Foot Assessment for 2011 will remain at $1.00 per front foot. During 2010, an internal study will be initiated to make recommendations for 2012.
