- City of Sioux Falls Stormwater Best Management Practice (BMP). Stormwater is the water from rain, melting snow or ice, which flows over the ground or pavement without soaking into the ground. Learn more by reading the "Workplace Prevention of Stormwater Pollution" brochure which promotes proper methods for preventing chemicals and wastes from contaminating our stormwater. The City of Sioux Falls in conjunction with CH2MHILL and Howard R. Green Company are developing a stormwater plan that meets regulatory requirements, enhances quality of life, and is implemented through a regional BMP approach. - Big Sioux Water Festival. The goal of the Water Festival is to provide children an opportunity to apply water education knowledge learned in the classroom to "real life" problem solving situations by providing a multi-topic, interdisciplinary one-day water "science fair" in hope of contributing to future behavioral changes.
- Lewis and Clark Rural Water System. The Lewis and Clark Rural Water System was formed to provide clean and plentiful water to over 200,000 people and to develop alternative water supplies for these people who have very few options with their current water source.
- South Dakota Association of Conservation Districts Watershed Planning and Development Project. The South Dakota Association of Conservation Districts Watershed Planning and Assistance Project aids selected landowners and operators with the development and funding of land management practices. These practices benefit their operation while improving the quality of the water in South Dakota rivers, lakes and streams.

Other Government Resources - Disaster Portal Focuses on Live Maps. A new Disaster Portal focusing on disaster prevention and relief is now available from the United States federal government. The portal is designed to assist victims of disasters, such as flooding, in locating the resources the need.

- Federal Insurance and Mitigation Administration (FIMA). The Federal Insurance and Mitigation Administration (FIMA) manages the National Flood Insurance Program and oversees FEMA's mitigation programs.
- National Drought Mitigation Center. The National Drought Mitigation Center (NDMC) helps people and institutions develop and implement measures to reduce societal vulnerability to drought. Their website provides information on drought planning, monitoring, mitigating, and understanding.
