Plumbing Retrofit Rebate Programs

Public Works offers rebate programs for replacement irrigation timers, clothes washers, and toilets. New construction purchases for toilets, rain sensors, or irrigation timers are not included in the rebate programs. These programs are offered to all Sioux Falls residents because replacing old, inefficient water-using devices can save thousands of gallons each year. Rebates are in the form of a credit to your Sioux Falls Utility account.

Clothes Washer Rebate

The City of Sioux Falls offers a rebate up to $125 toward the purchase of a qualifying washing machine to replace an older model.

How to Qualify:

• Must be a residential or non-residential Sioux Falls Utilities water customer.
• Must purchase a new water-conserving washing machine with an environmental protection agency energy star program compliance rating and an established water factor number below ten from a Sioux Falls retailer.

To receive a rebate, you will be required to complete an application and to provide proof of purchase with an original sales receipt. A home inspection to confirm purchase and installation of the appliance will be required.

Toilet Rebate

The City of Sioux Falls offers a rebate up to $75 for residential and $50 for non-residential replacements on the first toilet replaced. Residential replacements also qualify for $60 rebates for the second toilet, and $50 for each additional toilet thereafter.

How to Qualify:

• Must be a residential or non-residential Sioux Falls Utilities water customer.
• Must be replacing an existing toilet with a date stamp prior to 1992. (Date stamps are located inside the tank. Carefully remove the tank lid and look at the walls inside the toilet tank. A date will be stamped into the china)

To receive a rebate, you will be required to complete an application and to provide proof of purchase with an original sales receipt. A home inspection to confirm purchase and installation of the new toilet will be required.

Irrigation Retrofit Program

Rain Sensor Rebates: The City of Sioux Falls offers a rebate up to $50 for residential and non-residential replacements for the first sensor and $35 for each sensor thereafter.

How to Qualify:

• Must be a residential or non-residential Sioux Falls Utilities water customer.
• Must have an existing irrigation system. Newly installed systems do not qualify.

System Timer Replacements: Residential properties can qualify for a rebate up to $80 toward the purchase and installation of the first irrigation timer, and $65 for each additional irrigation timer (from the approved list) which replace older timers that have less functionality.

How to Qualify:

• Must be a residential or non-residential Sioux Falls Utilities water customer.
• Must have an existing irrigation system with older timer. Newly installed systems do not qualify.

To receive a rebate, you will be required to complete an application and to provide proof of purchase with an original sales receipt. A home inspection to confirm purchase and installation of the item(s) will be required.
