On the evening of September 27, 2011, the Human Relations Commission honored this year’s nominees for the Humanitarian Award with a reception and program at the Orpheum Theater Center. The Human Relations Commission awarded the 2011 Humanitarian Award to Julia Tibbetts. Julia was selected from three finalists who were announced at the program.

Several disability-related organizations are working together to celebrate the twenty-first year of the signing of the ADA. This celebration is open to the public and will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Frank L. Boyce Miracle Field from 5 to 7 p.m.
The Mayor's Disability Awareness Commission (DAC) is hosting an exhibit for local artists with disabilities to show their work during November and December 2011 at the Museum of Visual Materials (MoVM) in Sioux Falls.
