Mayor Huether's Listening and Learning Sessions are held once a month from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at various locations throughout the city. Mayor Huether and/or a City Director present information on a variety of City topics and are available to answer and address any questions from citizens on City-related topics.

    Mayor Mike Huether’s Listening and Learning Session for the public was held on Saturday, July 14, 2012.  Mayor Mike Huether and Mary Johns, Director of Siouxland Libraries, discussed progress on the new Prairie West Branch Library under construction at 26th Street and Discovery Avenue as well as library technology and summer activities. Many other questions and topics involving the City was answered and addressed as well.

    Mayor Mike Huether’s Listening and Learning Session for the public was held at the Central Fire Station on Saturday, May 12, 2012.  Fire Chief Jim Sideras discussed the reopening of Central Fire Station and the importance of the century-old structure, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue’s ISO rating and Accreditation, and the future of Sioux Falls Fire Rescue.

    Mayor Mike Huether’s Listening and Learning Session for the public was held on Saturday, April 14, 2012.  Mayor Mike Huether and Police Chief Doug Barthel discussed recent organizational changes within the Police Department and their team policing approach to ensuring our communities’ safety. Additional police command staff also answered questions related to the Police Department.

    Mayor Mike Huether’s Listening and Learning Session for the public was held on Saturday, March 10, 2012.  Mayor Mike Huether and Bill O’Toole, Director of Human Resources, talked about the hiring process for jobs with Sioux Falls city government including the Police Department and Fire Rescue. Other questions asked by the public involving the City included the recent open meeting commission ruling, snow gates, and parking at the Arena and Convention Center.

    Mayor Mike Huether’s Listening and Learning Session for the public was held on Saturday, February 11, 2012, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.  Mayor Mike Huether and Don Kearney, Director of Parks and Recreation, was present to talk about park and recreation opportunities including the need for indoor facilities for ice sports, tennis, and swimming.

Mary Johns, Director of Siouxland Libraries, provided an update on the planning process and features of the new Siouxland Libraries Westside Branch. The new branch is planned to open in the summer of 2013 in Memorial Park.
