Biography

Dean Karsky was born on Ellsworth AFB and raised in western North Dakota. After six years in the Air Force he settled his family in Sioux Falls in 1989 and started an insurance and financial services agency.

Since moving to Sioux Falls, Dean has been involved in the community. He is the past president of the Sioux Falls Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Southwest Optimist Club, and has served as a board member for his church. He is currently a board member for Character Counts! and the Sales and Marketing Executives of Sioux Falls. He also chaired the Ambassador and Diplomat Committees for the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce as well as serving as a committee member for other Chamber committees. He remains active as an Ambassador for the Chamber.

Dean has a bachelor's degree from Troy State University (AL) and Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant designations from The American College.

Dean and his wife, Janel, have three children, Derrick, Collin, and Kaylee, and when not working he enjoys time with his family and outdoor activities.
