4th of July Family Parade and Picnic

Fun Run/Walk

Join us for the FREE 5K fun run/walk that begins at 8 a.m. at Falls Park on Monday, July 4, 2016. No pets please. Online Fun Run/Walk Registration is now closed. For those that pre-registered, T-shirt pickup will begin at 7:30 a.m. outside the Overlook Cafe. We will be accepting walk up entries near the Overlook Café Parking Lot. Please park in the overflow lot north of Farmers Market.

Parade

PARADE BEGINS AT 10 a.m. All are welcome to join in the fun! Kids, decorate your bike, scooter or wagon in patriotic theme and help lead the parade. Online Parade Registration is now closed. Limited number of entries accepted. We will be accepting walk up entries at the corner of 10th & Main. Staging will be 8:15-8:45 a.m. with the parade beginning promptly at 10 a.m.

Picnic

PICNIC BEGINS at 11 a.m.

Lunch for the first 5,000 attendees begins serving at 11 a.m.

Celebrate our nation’s Independence Day with Mayor Mike Huether on Monday, July 4, 2016, at the 4th of July Family Parade and Picnic at Falls Park. This event will feature a free lunch for the first 5,000 attendees, live music and entertainment, as well as a 5K fun run/walk and a parade down Phillips Avenue.

Mayor’s Parade & Picnic festivities take place each year on the July 4.

The picnic festivities are located at Falls Park in Sioux Falls, SD (Click here for map)—located at the intersection of East Falls Park Drive and North Second Avenue

No, Fourth of July activities are FREE!!! Generous sponsorships as well as volunteers from the community allow the event to remain free to the public. 

There is no parking along the parade route during the road closures.  We suggest that you park your car at one of the downtown parking ramps and view the parade from a downtown location.

Overflow parking is also available at the intersection of East Falls Park Drive and North First Avenue.

ADA Parking is available at the Park Office at 6th & Phillips and at Falls Park. There will be a limited number of people movers on a designated route along Phillips Avenue to the Park Office parking lot at 6th & Phillips for those needing assistance. People movers will run from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Reminder to come early as road closures will begin along the parade route approximately 9:30 a.m.  We will leave Falls Park Drive open to assist in parking until 10 a.m.

There will be a limited number of people movers on a designated route along Phillips Avenue to the Park Office parking lot at 6th & Phillips for those needing assistance.

People movers will run from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The trolley route will reopen at the conclusion of the parade.  An alternate drop off location will be at the intersection of East Falls Park Drive and North First Avenue until Falls Park is reopened at approximately 2 p.m. to normal traffic.

There will be a limited number of people movers on a designated route along Phillips Avenue to the Park Office parking lot at 6th & Phillips for those needing assistance.

People movers will run from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

We highly recommend it! A special bike rack area will be located near the Horse Barn.

We ask that you refrain from riding a bike during the fun run/walk. This event draws several thousand people and can make it difficult to navigate the route on a bike.

The event is completely handicap accessible including wheelchair accessible port-a-pots and reserved ADA parking. “Seeing eye” and “support” dogs are welcome.

The picnic is in Falls Park so bring a small lawn chair or blanket, sunblock, and sunglasses!

*If you bring a stroller or wagon, we have a designated serving line. Watch for signs near the serving line.

No. The Fourth of July Parade and Picnic is a hot and crowded place; and is not a place for pets.
