ADA Transition Plan

The City of Sioux Falls is required by Title II 28 CFR part 35.150 of the Americans with Disabilities Act to develop and implement a transition plan to recommend corrective actions in order to provide access to public programs and facilities equally to the citizens of Sioux Falls. The physical elements were compared to ADAAG and PROWAG requirements for newly constructed facilities; however, Title II does not require a public entity to bring existing sites and facilities up to new construction standards. The City has set up a five-year capital improvements program to budget for these improvements. The worksheets in the transition plan outline the recommended improvements by city department/division, project location, and when the improvements are budgeted.
