Siouxland Libraries Welcomes 'Celebrating Children’s Books' Traveling Quilt Exhibit by Muriel Feldshuh
Siouxland Libraries marks the arrival of ‘Celebrating Children’s Books’ traveling quilt exhibit with a reception on July 1, 2014, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at the Main Library. The quilts are the work of Muriel Feldshuh, a retired library teacher from Brooklyn, NY. Feldshuh quilted a total of 186 squares collected from noted children’s authors and illustrators to create the seven quilts in the exhibit.
Feldshuh uses her talents as a quilter by combining her interests in young readers with the quilts and banners she crafts. She has exhibited her artworks at libraries and museums around the country. Muriel has received a number of awards for her work in young adult literacy.
Join us for a quilt-themed children’s craft and view the traveling quilt exhibit. Cookies and lemonade will be provided. The seven quilts will be on display at the Main Library from July 1 to September 30, 2014.
