Go Global @ Your Library
September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month and Siouxland Libraries will offer a world tour of programs, events, and classes throughout the month. By picking up a BINGO card at any Siouxland Libraries branch, participants can discover resources the library has to offer and have a chance at winning free stuff. Some of the events include:
- Kangaroo Boogie Toddler Dance Party with music from Hoopla.
- World’s Fair film series featuring films set in Africa.
- Beginning Computers and Beginning Internet classes.
- Introduction to Learning Express Library, a test preparation database.
“A library card may just be the smartest card you carry, and there are no monthly fees. It certainly is an important school supply and it costs less than a pencil. There’s no age requirement, and it’s free! Discoveries abound at Siouxland Libraries, and a library card is your ticket to explore and experience rich resources,” said Mary Johns, Director of Siouxland Libraries.
To wrap up National Library Card Sign-Up Month, Siouxland Libraries will host the World’s Fair on Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Attendees will be led on a tour of Siouxland Libraries world of services by library staff. There will be cultural activities and a bouncy house for kids. A library card is needed for admittance; sign up is allowed that night on the Bookmobile. World’s Fair night will take place at the Prairie West Branch Library, 7630 West 26th Street, from 4 to 7 p.m.
