New Playground Projects Complete at Meldrum, Bakker, Kuehn, and Tuthill Parks!
Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation announces the completion of four new playgrounds at the following locations:
- Bakker Park, 6201 West 61st Street
- Kuehn Park, 2501 South Kuehn Park Road
- Meldrum Park, 1720 East Sixth Street
- Tuthill Park (lower structure), 3500 South Cliff Avenue
“These new playgrounds have the newest industry play features and meet all the current industry safety and accessibility standards, including poured-in-place rubber safety surfacing,” states Tory Miedema, Park Development Specialist. “Plus, the fun colors and brand-new feel have brightened up the parks and are a source of pride for these neighborhoods.”
Sioux Falls’ nationally accredited parks and recreation system provides 72 playgrounds across the entire city for residents and visitors to enjoy. This $479,000 project was funded through Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation’s capital improvement program.
The playground replacement program is one of several cyclic replacement programs used by the department to ensure that the parks and recreation facilities are maintained at a high standard. Playground structures typically are replaced about every 20 years. Next year’s scheduled playground replacements include: Whittier, Kenny Anderson, Menlo, and Morningside Parks.
