Join Us for the 30th Annual Frosty Frolics Weekend!

Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation will host its 30th Annual Frosty Frolics on January 5 through 7, 2018, at various sites around the city. Celebrate the winter season with a large number of indoor and outdoor activities for all ages planned for this weekend. All outdoor events are held weather-permitting. All Frosty Frolics events are free, unless otherwise noted.

9 a.m.  Frosty Frolics Fun Run/Walk Fun run 5K and 10K walk/run.
Onsite walk up registrations will be available. Free.

10 a.m.–12 noon  Ice Fishing Frenzy
Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation in partnership with The Outdoor Campus. Ice fishing poles will be loaned out on a first-come, first served basis; you also are welcome to bring your own. All ages welcome. A S.D. fishing license is required for ages 16 and older. Free. Register online by 5 p.m. January 3 with activity number 370004.

Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Hot chocolate, crafts, and activities will follow. Ages 3–12.

1–3 p.m.  Guided Snowshoe Tour for Beginners
Staying healthy and fit during the snowy winter months can be a challenge, so why not try a sport that can burn up to 1,000 calories per hour? Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation is partnering with The Outdoor Campus and the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum to offer a snowshoeing activity that will teach you the fundaments of the sport and allow you to spend time outdoors in the winter. Snowshoes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. No registration required.

Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation in partnership with Falls Area Singletrack (FAST) invites you to bring your bike and meet at the Tomar Park parking lot. We will ride to Falls Park, weather permitting. FAST will provide a frosty frozen treat at the end of the ride.

All six Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation outdoor ice rinks 
7:30–10 p.m.  Teen Cosmic Skate Come ice skate and socialize with your friends at our teen cosmic skate. Ages 14–17. This event will be held at the Scheels IcePlex and will be a fun-filled night of ice skating, grooving to a DJ, and playing games on the ice. Registration and payment will take place on the night of the event at the Scheels IcePlex. $5 entry/skate rental. Music provided. Scheels IcePlex

2 p.m.  Flick and Float Event featuring the movie Frozen. Join us for a floating good time watching a movie in the 50 Meter Pool. Whoever thought an afternoon watching a favorite movie could be so fun? Inner tubes will be provided. Active swim pass or daily admission required.  Midco® Aquatic Center
