Structure Fire at 200 North Primrose Place

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire at 200 North Primrose Place at approximately 7:10 a.m. Thursday morning, Dcember 28, 2017. Initial reports indicated there was a fire at a mobile home involving a cord or wire. Upon arrival, fire crews reported flames coming from the windows on one end of the home. The lone occupant of the home at the time of the fire, with his pet rabbit, were outside as fire crews arrived, and he confirmed nobody else was home.

Fire crews had the fire under control within 10 minutes after arrival. After a thorough search of the home, firefighters did locate a pet cat that did not survive the fire. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with four fire apparatus, three support apparatus, 19 firefighters, and a chaplain. Sioux Falls Police units, the Red Cross, MidAmerican Energy, Xcel Energy, and Sioux Falls Public Works also responded to assist.

Sioux Falls Fire reminds citizens to follow the instructions and obey the proper clearances required when using any auxiliary electrical appliance. Also, make sure to check your smoke alarms to ensure they are functioning properly.
