Two Volunteer Groups to Benefit Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation This Week
On June 8 and 9, 2017, Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation will join forces with two groups of volunteers from Citi and Convergint Technologies to benefit the parks system in Sioux Falls.
This initiative is part of a new partnership between Citi and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) where Citi employees work directly with local park and recreation agencies on a community service project. In Sioux Falls, Citi employees will paint 70 picnic tables at Falls Park on Thursday, June 8. The following day, they will be performing cleanup work along the river and bike trail from Cherry Rock Park to downtown. Citi also will provide up to $10,000 to fund the project.
NRPA is proud to partner with Citi and other like‐minded corporations to provide opportunities for companies to give back and reconnect with the communities they serve through local parks and recreation. This year, Citi is partnering with local park and recreation agencies in 11 cities and towns across the country.
Also on June 9, Convergint Technologies will volunteer to assist Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation. In the morning, the company will provide and install four cameras at the Visitor Information Center at Falls Park. Later in the day, their employees will have four different groups performing cleanup work along the river and bike trail from Pasley Park to Yankton Trail Park.
“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation to these two companies and their employees for volunteering their time and energy to assist Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation. These projects wouldn’t have been possible without these civic-minded companies,” says Don Kearney, Director of Parks and Recreation.
