Hundreds of Seasonal Employment Opportunities Available This Summer With Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation

Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation is looking to fill hundreds of summer seasonal job vacancies. Parks and Recreation hires a variety of seasonal positions each year, ranging from lifeguarding to park maintenance positions. Positions include both full-time and part-time hours, and some positions offer incentive and bonus pay opportunities. Are you the type of person who enjoys the outdoors, plants, mowing lawns, or landscaping? The Operations Division is seeking individuals 18 years of age and older for a variety of positions. These 40-hour-per-week seasonal positions are offered as long-term (April–October) and short-term (May–August) options. No experience is necessary, as training is provided. “The earning potential for a short-term employee working 40 hours per week for 13 weeks is approximately $5,200,” says Kelby Mieras, Park Operations Manager.

The Recreation Division offers a variety of employment opportunities and hires individuals beginning at 15 years of age. A variety of incentives are offered such as hiring, referral, and end-of-the-season bonuses in addition to reimbursement pay for any certification costs. Recreation seasonal employees can expect to earn anywhere from $3,000 to $4,500 depending on hours worked in addition to incentives or bonuses earned.

“If you enjoy working outdoors, athletics, swimming, or working with children, the job opportunities available with the Recreation Division are just what you need. These positions are great résumé builders for individuals obtaining degrees in education or medical fields,” says Alicia Luther, Recreation Manager. “We hire more than 125 outdoor lifeguard positions each year and now also have indoor lifeguard opportunities to offer as well. With the addition of the Midco® Aquatic Center, we are now able to certify lifeguards, and there is still time for those interested in lifeguarding to register for our certification offerings.”
