Structure Fire—615 West 11th Street
At 12:20 a.m. on February 15, 2018, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 615 West 11th Street.
The first-arriving truck found people hanging out a window on the second floor of the structure. Crews laddered the building and pulled two people from the second floor of the structure. Crews made entry into the building and found smoke and a small fire in the stairwell between the second and third floor. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue personnel extinguished the fire in approximately ten minutes. Fire crews immediately established ventilation to remove the smoke in the building.
Two people were treated by Paramedics Plus on scene for smoke inhalation. There was also a bystander who was treated and transported by Paramedics Plus. There were no firefighter injuries.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 20 personnel, 5 fire trucks, and 2 support vehicles. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The building did not have a residential sprinkler system. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind residents to have working smoke detectors and a practiced escape plan in the event of a fire emergency.
