Structure Fire at 111 East 14th Street

At 1:17 a.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2017, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 111 East 14th Street.

Upon investigation, crews encountered a small fire in the first floor hallway with light smoke throughout the structure. SFFR personnel extinguished the fire in approximately ten minutes. Fire crews removed a portion of the hallway Sheetrock and ceiling below to ensure that the fire had not spread.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Residents were briefly displaced but allowed to return upon completion.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 18 personnel, four fire trucks, and two support vehicles.

The fire’s cause is still under investigation.

The structure did not have a residential sprinkler system. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind residents to have working smoke detectors and a practiced escape plan in the event of a fire emergency.
