Siouxland Libraries Presents Building Communities Through Music
Musician and teacher James Jarvie will explore how music can bring together diverse groups. His presentation, Building Communities Through Music, will be Tuesday, January 23, 2018, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Downtown Library, 200 North Dakota Avenue. It’s part of Siouxland Libraries’ Winter Reading Program, Libraries Rock!
Now in his eighth year as K-12 Director of Music for the Ellsworth School District in Minnesota, Jarvie teaches all music courses and related extracurricular activities. He also performs with the Arlington (SD) Brass and is principal trumpet with the Worthington (MN) Orchestra. He is past president of the Southwest Minnesota Band Directors Association.
From the classroom to musical theatre, Jarvie will show how music can shape communities by sharing his experiences as well as those of peers, colleagues, and students.
