Winter Storm Preparedness—the City Stands Ready!

With the potential for a winter storm to affect the city of Sioux Falls and surrounding areas beginning late Sunday (January 21, 2018), the City of Sioux Falls Street Division is prepared and, if necessary, ready to execute its snow removal plan.

While the tract of the storm is still uncertain, early predictions indicate that this storm may produce large accumulations of snow and windy conditions throughout the area. Travel conditions and visibility may be affected within the city of Sioux Falls.

To ensure that people have easy access to the City’s snow alert status, the Sioux Falls Street Division offers a text message alerting service. To receive snow alert text messages, text the word SNOW to 605-413-1990.

The City of Sioux Falls encourages everyone to follow the local weather forecasts throughout the weekend, prepare to care for family and pets, and to use good judgment whether you are traveling in Sioux Falls or across the region.

Be sure to follow our local first responders’ Twitter feeds: @CitySiouxFalls, @SiouxFallsPD, and @SiouxFallsFire for the latest updates.
