Author Visit: Wayne Fanebust to Discuss Chasing Frank and Jesse James
Sioux Falls author Wayne Fanebust will discuss his new book, Chasing Frank and Jesse James: The Bungled Northfield Bank Robbery and the Long Manhunt at the Downtown Library, 200 North Dakota Avenue, Tuesday, May 22, 2018, 7 to 8 p.m.
The infamous James brothers are among the best-known outlaws of the Wild West. They and their gang robbed stage coaches, banks, and trains in Missouri and surrounding states.
But it was the botched bank robbery in Northfield, Minnesota, followed by an improbable escape through Minnesota, Dakota, and Iowa, that made them legendary figures. Fanebust’s book includes the gang’s legendary jump across Devil’s Gulch near present-day Garretson.
