Parks and Recreation has three sites available for dog off-leash areas:
• Spencer Park – Located at 3501 South Cliff Avenue, on the west side of Cliff Avenue by I-229. This is a permanently fenced dog park with an area for small dog and an area for large dogs. The site includes paved paths, drinking fountains, benches and a shade structure.
• Family Park Dog Park – Located at 300 N. Ellis road, near West 12th Street on the Tea/Ellis Road. The off-leash area offers two sections of approximately three acres of permanently fenced space. The new park amenities include fencing, concrete walkways, irrigated open space, bench seating, shade structures, drinking fountains, dog wash stations, and natural dog play features. Also, in the northeastern portion of Family Park, there is approximately 22 acres of open space to conduct dog training activities in a natural prairie setting.
• Lien Park – An off-leash area located on the east side of North Cliff Avenue at the Big Sioux River, approximately one-quarter mile north of the Rice Street and Cliff Avenue intersection. Off-street parking is available. This is not a permanently fenced area.
LIEN PARK WILL BE CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION UNTIL APPROXIMATELY JUNE 2017.
Rules for usage are posted. Each site has a picnic table, trash receptacle, and plastic bag dispenser for owners to use to pick up after their pets. For more information, call 367-8222.
