Branches and Tree Debris

Individuals and businesses are responsible for clearing tree debris in their yards. Branches and trees can be taken to any of the four free drop-off sites for disposal. Loads for these locations do not require a tarp. Any loads going to the landfill must be tarped.

The City and contractors are working to address boulevard trees and branches that have fallen into the public right-of-way. (See the Tree Debris Removal graphic for help.)

City operated tree debris drop-off sites:

  • Street Division Campus—west of the Household Hazardous Waste Facility located at 1015 East Chambers Street. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 12 to 5 on Sundays.
  • Sioux Empire Fairgrounds—just north of 12th Street and Lyon Boulevard. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 12 to 5 on Sundays.

Privately owned and operated tree drop-off sites:

Ash Wood

Please Note: Storm related tree debris likely contains ash wood. (Over 41% of street trees are ash.) Because of the Emerald Ash Borer, tree debris from Sioux Falls must be disposed of within the ash tree quarantine area, which includes the options listed above.
