Local Board Of Equalization

The City of Sioux Falls Local Board of Equalization will meet the week of March 18-22, 2024, for the purpose of reviewing and correcting the assessment of the taxing district.

All persons considering themselves aggrieved by said assessment are required to notify the clerk of the local board in writing no later than Thursday, March 14th, 2024. The 2024 Appeal Process Guide for the Property Owner provides detailed information about the appeals process. It is recommended that property owners first speak with their Equalization Office if they believe the assessment to be incorrect.  The paragraphs below provide the necessary contact information, by County, for Sioux Falls property owners.

Sioux Falls / Lincoln County Residents

Sioux Falls residents living in Lincoln County are asked to contact the Lincoln County Department of Equalization at 605-764-2571 with any questions about their assessment. Sioux Falls, Lincoln County appeals to the City of Sioux Falls Local Board of Equalization are scheduled through Lincoln County’s Appeal Property Assessment webpage or by contacting the Sioux Falls City Clerk’s Office at 605-367-8080.

The Local Board of Equalization sessions will be held for Lincoln County appellants in the Sioux Falls City Council Chambers, Carnegie Town Hall, 235 W. 10th St., Sioux Falls, SD.

Sioux Falls / Minnehaha County Residents

Sioux Falls residents living in Minnehaha County are asked to contact the Minnehaha County Department of Equalization at 605-367-4228 with any questions about their assessment. Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County appeals to the City of Sioux Falls Local Board of Equalization are scheduled through the Minnehaha County Department of Equalization, 220 W. 6th St., Sioux Falls, SD.

The Local Board of Equalization sessions will be held for Minnehaha County appellants in the Minnehaha County Commission Chambers, Third Floor, 415 N. Dakota Ave., Sioux Falls, SD.
