Zoning Board of Adjustment
The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial board with the authority to vary the zoning ordinance requirements for height, setback, yard, parking, or density. Variances are granted on properties that have special circumstances due to the lot’s shape, topography, or other similar situations.

Special Qualifications
Persons with expert knowledge of construction, architecture, fine arts, engineering, landscape architecture, law, or practical experience in related land use areas.
Residency/Registered Voter Requirement
Must be a resident and registered voter of Sioux Falls.
Summary of Duties
Conduct public meetings and make decisions based on their authority granted in state law and Zoning Ordinance.
