New Partnership Announced at Outdoor Pools and Public Golf Courses
Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation is excited to announce a partnership with Dakota Dermatology to provide sunscreen to guests.
Rotary Club member Dr. Richard Friess heard about public sunscreen dispensers in the Florida area and brought the idea to Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation. With the assistance of Jan Nicolay, several donors were brought on board with the goal to make sunscreen and dispensers available at all five outdoor aquatic facilities, McKennan Wading Pool, as well as Elmwood, Prairie Green, and Kuehn Park golf courses.
Dakota Dermatology generously donated all of the sunscreen for the dispensers with the goal of promoting awareness of sun safety and encouraging sunscreen use during outdoor activities.
Thank you to everyone involved to help make this project come to fruition:

Prevention is the best safeguard against skin cancer. Everyone knows someone who has been affected by skin cancer. We have the opportunity to have made a change in our society—a change that can have a positive effect in preventing skin cancer. We want to encourage people to enjoy the outdoors—but safely—by taking the necessary steps to prevent skin cancer through using sunscreen as a part of their daily routine.
This project is a great example of a community partnership to provide a valuable service to our pool and golf course patrons,” said Don Kearney, Director of Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation.
