Lane Closure - Dakota Avenue

Beginning today, Monday, July 27, 2020, the left turn lane from Dakota Avenue onto Sixth Street will be closed. The center thru lane can be used for left turns during this time.  The parking lane and sidewalk in this area will also be closed.

This is the next phase of a project to upgrade the ADA accessible curb ramps and sidewalk in the downtown area. Work at this location is anticipated to be complete in approximately two weeks.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Street Closures - Bailey Street and Prairie Avenue

Beginning on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, Bailey Street will be closed from east of Summit Avenue through Walts Avenue. The intersection of Prairie Avenue and Bailey Street will also be closed. Traffic on Prairie Avenue will be detoured to Minnesota Avenue and West Avenue.

The access to Veteran’s Memorial Park on Walts Avenue is closed. Access is being maintained to the park through the west access on Bailey Street.

This is the next phase of a project to reconstruct Bailey Street between West Avenue and Main Avenue. Improvements will include upgrading the water main, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, accessible curb ramps and asphalt surfacing. The project is anticipated to be complete by November 2020.

57th Street Traffic Switch

Beginning on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, traffic on 57th Street between Western Avenue and Minnesota Avenue will be switched from the south side of the street to the new asphalt on the north side of the street as the contractor moves into the next phase of construction. 

One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times. This work is expected to be complete in the fall of 2020.
