Lane Closure – 41st Street

Beginning on Monday, August 3, 2020, the outside eastbound lane on 41st Street will be closed between Empire Place and East Empire Place. Construction crews will begin the widening of 41st Street, and sidewalk installation. 

Beginning on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, the lane closure will expand and the inside lane of eastbound 41st Street will also be closed between Empire Place and East Empire Place.   

A minimum of two lanes of traffic will be maintained in the eastbound direction. Work is expected to be completed by August 21, 2020. 

This work will be completed by Lloyd Companies in conjunction with the redevelopment of the property adjacent to 41st Street. Drivers are encouraged to utilize other mall entrances to visit the Empire Mall.

Street Closure – South Phillips Avenue

Beginning at 5:30 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2020, South Phillips Avenue will be closed between 11th Street and 12tht Street. 

Barnhart Crane will be moving a rooftop unit with a crane and anticipates completion of the project by 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

Lane Closures – Benson Road

Beginning on Monday, August 3, 2020, various lanes on Benson Road will be closed between Fourth Avenue and Ninth Avenue to allow crews to perform concrete pavement repairs. The lane closures will shift from the inside lanes to the outside lanes as the work progresses. One lane of traffic will be maintained in both directions at all times during construction.

All work is expected to be completed within two weeks with favorable weather conditions.

Street Closure - Brookline Circle

Beginning on Monday, August 3, 2020, Brookline Circle will be closed to allow construction crews to perform storm drainage repairs.

This work is expected to be complete in approximately two weeks.

Lane Closures - 18th Street

Beginning on Monday, August 3, 2020, lane closures will begin on 18th Street between Kiwanis Avenue and Williams Avenue to allow crews to perform concrete pavement repairs. The lanes closed will change as the work progresses, however, one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times. 

Work is expected to be completed within one week with favorable weather conditions.

Lane Closure - Dakota Avenue

Beginning on Monday, August 3, 2020, contractors will be working on the sidewalk on the east side of Dakota Avenue between Sixth Street and Ninth Street. The sidewalk and parking lane on east side of Dakota Avenue will be closed and at times, and the east driving lane will also be closed

This is the next phase of a project to upgrade the ADA accessible curb ramps and sidewalk in the downtown area. Work at this location is anticipated to be complete in approximately two weeks.

Lane Closure – 41st Street

Beginning on, Tuesday, August 4, 2020, the outside westbound lane of 41st Street will be closed at West Avenue along with the northbound lane of West Avenue.

Dave’s Construction will be performing utility work and is anticipated to be completed by the end of day on August 4, 2020.

Lane Closures – Bridge Inspections

Beginning on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, crews will be performing routine bridge inspections. Lane closures will occur between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  Traffic will be maintained in both directions at all times. Work on each bridge will be completed that same day.

August 4: 41st Street Bridge near O’Gorman and the Cliff Avenue Bridge south of Tenth Street.

August 5: Cliff Avenue Bridge south of I-229 and Bahnson Avenue Bridge north of Rice Street.

August 6: Minnesota Avenue Bridge south of 60th Street North and Benson Road Bridge east of Minnesota Avenue

August 7: Both Russell Street bridges west of Kiwanis Avenue.

Lane Closure – 61st Street

Beginning on, Wednesday, August 5, 2020, East 61st Street will be closed between South Sycamore Avenue and South Seville Place.

Metro Construction will be performing utility work and is anticipated to be completed by the end of day on August 12, 2020.
