Lane Closures – Bridge Inspections

Beginning on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, several bridges in the Sioux Falls area are slated for regularly scheduled bi-annual inspections.

This work will require lane closures to allow crews to use a snooper truck to inspect the bridges. Traffic will be maintained through the work zone.

Weather permitting, the work schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, August 15

  • River Boulevard bridge west of Southeastern Avenue
  • Cliff Avenue bridge south of Chambers Avenue

Wednesday, August 16

  • North Drive bridge over the spillway
  • North Drive bridge over the Railroad

Thursday, August 17

  • 11th Street viaduct downtown

Friday, August 18

  • 11th Street viaduct downtown (if needed)

Street Closure – Sixth Street

Continuing into Tuesday, August 15, 2023, West Sixth Street is closed west of North Minnesota Avenue. A detour is signed.

MidAmerican is working on gas lines. They ran into an unexpected circumstance. The work is expected to be complete and the street open before Tuesday evening.

Lane Closure – Louise Avenue

Beginning on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, the outside southbound lane on South Louise Avenue will be closed in front of Barnes and Noble.

Brooks Construction will be repairing sidewalk.

This work is anticipated to be complete by Friday.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Lane Closure - Marion Road

Beginning on Monday, August 21, 2023, the outside northbound lane on South Marion Road will be closed south of 18th Street to allow crews to perform a concrete repair. One northbound lane of traffic will be maintained during construction. Southbound traffic will not be impacted by this work.

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be complete within one week.

Lane Closure - Minnesota Avenue

Beginning on Monday, August 21, the outside southbound lane on Minnesota Avenue will be closed north of Algonquin Street to allow crews to perform a concrete pavement repair. One southbound lane will be maintained during construction.

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be complete within one week.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Lane Closure - Minnesota Avenue

Beginning on Monday, August 21, 2023, the outside southbound lane on North Minnesota Avenue will be closed south of Hangar Street to allow crews to perform a concrete pavement repair. One southbound lane will be maintained during construction.

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be complete within one week.

Lane Closure - Minnesota Avenue

Beginning on Monday, August 21, the outside southbound lane on Minnesota Avenue will be closed south of Jaycee Lane to allow crews to perform a concrete pavement repair. One southbound lane will be maintained during construction.

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be complete within one week.

Lane Closure - 57th Street

Beginning on Monday August 21, 2023, the inside westbound lane and center turn lane on West 57th Street will be closed east of Bur Oak Place to allow crews to perform a concrete repair. One westbound lane of traffic will be maintained during construction.

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to complete within one week.
