Gather your friends and family and experience the joys of Winter in Sioux Falls! This annual event is perfect for all ages, with fun like ice skating, bean bag tournament, ice fishing, snowshoeing, and so much more!

All items on schedule are FREE, unless noted.

Friday, January 8

Tubing

$5 today! Helmets available for $10 to rent. Great Bear Ski Valley recommends that for safety reasons, children under the age of 4 or under 42” tall do not tube. All tubers must purchase a tube ticket and only 1 person is allowed per tube. The use of helmets is recommended, but not required. Rental helmets are available for $10.00 at Guest Services

Bean Bag Tournament.

Take part in our Frosty Frolics Bean Bag Tournament! This will be a 16-team bean bag tournament that will take place at Levitt Shell so dress appropriately! This will be a one-night tournament, with check in at 6 P.M. and games starting at 6:30 P.M. Grab a partner and see if you have what it takes to walk away with the prize! 5K and 10K Walk/Run

Join the fun and competition of this frosty morning run. Races will be 5,000 and 10,000 meters. Runners will follow the path along the Big Sioux River. Turn around points will be noted along the route. Runners that are registered before December 17 will receive a T-shirt. “I-Kid-A-Rod” Race

Bring your family sled to Spencer Park for this afternoon of fun based off of Alaska’s annual Iditarod Race. Race around Spencer Park while competing at activities including snowball toss, Iceberg jump, seal sneak, and others. Team check-in and day of registration will be available starting at 12 noon. Ice Fishing Frenzy

Snowshoe Stroll

Sioux Falls Parks Recreation is partnering with the Outdoor Campus to offer a snowshoeing activity that will teach you the fundamentals of the sport and allow you to spend time outdoors in the winter at the beautiful Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum. The number of snowshoes available is limited so please sign up early for these limited space tours. Group walks will leave every hour starting at 1p.m. with the last group departing at 4 p.m. Registration is highly recommended. Register online at register.siouxfallsparks.org.

Fatbike Ride

Partnering with Falls Area Singletrack (FAST) and Falls Area Bicyclists (FAB).Bring your bike out and meet at the Tomar Park parking lot. We will ride to Falls Park weather permitting. FAST and FAB will provide a frosty frozen treat at the end of the ride. Free. No registration required.

Teen Cosmic Skate

Come ice skate and socialize with your friends at our teen cosmic skate. Ages 14–19.This event will be held at the Scheels IcePlex and will be a fun-filled night of ice skating, grooving to a DJ, and playing games on the ice. Registration and payment will take place on the night of the event at the Scheels IcePlex. $5 entry/skate rental. Music provided.

City Broomball Showdown

If you can swing a stick and hit a ball, you can play broomball! Gather at least six teammates for our 1st Annual City Broomball Showdown. Teams will face off in two ten-minute periods with a guarantee of three games! This is a perfect opportunity to bring out the competitive side of your family, friends, or even your coworkers. Tournament will take place in the Memorial Hockey Pen with the first face off starting at 1 p.m. sharp. Join us to see if you have what it takes to obtain the first-ever crown!
