WEST COVELL LAKE, TERRACE PARK | ALL AGES

Whether you already enjoy fishing, or would like to learn how to fish, this program is for you! Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation will provide all of the necessary equipment for you and your family to have an enjoyable evening of fishing. Poles and bait will be available on a firstcome, first-served basis. Individuals 16 years of age and older must have a valid South Dakota fishing license.

Explorers

EARTH DAY EXPLORERS

ARROWHEAD PARK | _6&ndash

Studies show that spending time in nature can reduce stress and anxiety and even promote emotional development in children. Attendees will participate in an Earth Day service project, craft, and other outdoor-themed activities. Participants must be prepared to spend the day outside, wear closed-toed shoes, and bring a water bottle.

Paws-in-the-Park

PAWS IN THE PARK

FAMILY DOG PARK | ALL AGES

We have moved our annual Paws in the Park event to the springtime and to Family Dog Park! This dog-centered festival offers a chance for owners and pets to get together and socialize. Join us for the same fun-filled dog-centered activities, contests, and pet-related vendors. If you are interested in becoming a vendor for this event, please call Morningside Community Center at 978-6930.

PLANT AND GROW

MORNINGSIDE C.C. | AGES: 6–9 

Children who garden have shown an increased level of responsibility, self-awareness, and a higher likelihood to eat healthy foods including fruits and vegetables. Participants will decorate a flower pot and then plant their very own flower in it to take home while they learn how a plant grows. Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and homemade treasures make the best gifts!

WILD WEDNESDAYS

ARROWHEAD PARK | AGES: 2–5

Each date will be based around a different nature theme. Classes will include a story, craft, and a scavenger hunt walk in nature. Parent participation is required. Please meet near the upper parking lot at the historic barn picnic area.

Fishathon

NATIONAL KIDS TO THE PARK DAY FISHATHON

WEST COVELL LAKE, TERRACE PARK | ALL AGES

What better way to kick off the summer fishing season than with a fishathon! Prizes will be awarded to youth participants under the age of 16 for the largest fish, smallest fish, and the most fish caught! Participants ages 16+ that plan to fish must have a valid S.D. fishing license.

ORIENTEERING 101

ARROWHEAD PARK | AGES: 12+

Cell phones can be very useful in helping you find your way if you are lost, but would you know how to navigate without one? The ability to use a map and compass can be extremely helpful if you find yourself in unfamiliar surroundings. After an introductory lesson to map reading skills and compass use, participants will test their skills on a preset self-guided orienteering course using nothing but a map and compass to find their way. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
