Mobile Home Repair Program

This program provides financial assistance to low- and moderate-income residents who own a mobile home within Sioux Falls city limits, and need financial assistance to maintain their mobile homes in a decent, safe, and sanitary condition. This program offers up to $5,000 to any one mobile home during its lifetime.

Do I qualify for the program?

If you meet income guidelines, and answer "yes" to the following questions, you might qualify for this program.

  • Do you own a mobile home?
  • Is your mobile home within city limits?
  • Have you owned and lived in your mobile home for at least one year? (1-year requirement waived for emergency repairs)

What kind of repairs can I make?

Repairs are limited to those that are emergency in nature. This may include the repair or replacement of:

  • Faulty heating system
  • Faulty electrical
  • Faulty plumbing
  • Repairs made prior to submitting application are not eligible.

No. Properties being repaired for resale are not eligible for this program.

 

Can I use this program if I am purchasing my property through a contract or deed?

No. Applicants purchasing their property through contract for deed are not eligible for this program.

 

What are the loan terms?

The loan is forgiven after the applicant occupies the mobile home for one year after project completion.

 

My home was built before 1978. Do I need to have a lead test done?

Yes. Minimal testing is required on deteriorated paint that is being affected by the project.

 

Who is responsible for getting cost estimates?

The homeowner is responsible for getting estimates.
