Police Hiring Incentives

Details and Eligibility

Individuals who are hired for the position of Police Officer during the year 2023 may be eligible for a Hiring Incentive.

  • Newly Hired Officers: Individuals hired within the calendar year of 2023.  $1,000 at first paycheck and $4,000 after successfully passing probationary period.

Terms: Individuals who qualify for the incentive must sign a Hiring Incentive Agreement. Individuals must successfully pass a 15-month probationary period to receive full payment of the incentive. Based on the management needs of the organization, the City of Sioux Falls may elect to end the Hiring Incentive before the end of 2023.
