Commuter Route Information:  

  • This project is anticipated to begin in May 2023. 
  • Lane closures will be in place. 
  • At a minimum, one lane of traffic will always remain open in both directions.

Phase 1:  Outside lanes - E. 6th Street from I-229 to 1300 feet east of the Cleveland Avenue Intersection and the outside lanes of Cleveland Avenue, 650 feet north and south of the 6th Street intersection.

Phase 2

Phase 2:  Inside lanes - E. 6th Street from I-229 to 1300 feet east of the Cleveland Avenue Intersection and the outside lanes of Cleveland Avenue, 650 feet north and south of the 6th Street intersection.

Phase 3A

Phase 3A:  Westbound lanes - E. 6th Street from approximately Linwood Court to west of Sycamore Avenue.

  1. Curb & gutter and fillet repairs
  2. Full depth concrete panel and joint repairs
  3. Partial depth concrete pavement repairs
  4. ADA sidewalk ramp upgrades 
  5. Seeding & topsoil placement

Phase 3B:  Eastbound lanes - E. 6th Street from approximately Linwood Court to west of Sycamore Avenue.

Project Summary:

This project will rehabilitate East 6th Street between I-229 to North Sycamore Avenue.  Work will include full depth concrete patching, partial depth concrete patching, curb and gutter repair, sidewalk ADA ramp replacement and diamond grinding of the finished pavement to provide a smooth and uniform driving surface. Due to the deteriorated condition of the existing concrete pavement, the area of 6th Street from I-229 to approximately Shepherd Avenue, including the intersection of Cleveland Avenue, will receive an asphalt overlay.
