69th Street – Louise Avenue to Medical Court

Overview of 69th Street Construction Project

Update 8/29/2019

  • Beginning tomorrow, Friday, August 30, traffic will be moved onto the new concrete pavement on the south side of the roadway to allow the next phase of construction to begin. 
  • The next phase will include removing the old lanes of 69th Street from Connie Avenue through Sharon Avenue. 
  • Traffic to the north will be maintained on Mogen Avenue, but Sharon Avenue and Connie Avenue will be closed to the north. 
  • Commuters should utilize Mogen Avenue and Avera Drive as an alternate route.  
  • Box culvert installation near Beal Avenue and 69th Street is now complete.  
  • In the next couple of weeks, we will see utility work begin on the north phase of the project, as well as paving of the south lanes from Beal Place west to Medical Court.

  1. Removals, grading, and utility work on the south side of 69th Street between Medical Court and Connie Avenue.
  2. Box culvert installation on the north side of 69th Street, east of Avera Behavioral Health.
  3. Box culvert installation on the south side of 69th Street, west of Beal Avenue.
  4. Final grading, gravel, and concrete paving on the south side of 69th Street between Medical Court and Connie Avenue. 
  5. Asphalt mill and overlay on the south side of 69th Street between Connie Avenue and Louise Avenue.
  6. Final grading, gravel, and concrete paving on Beal Avenue north of 69th Street.  
  7. Removals, grading, and utility work on the north side of 69th Street between Medical Court and Connie Avenue.  
  8. Final grading, gravel, and concrete paving on the north side of 69th Street between Medical Court and Connie Avenue.
  9. Asphalt mill and overlay on north side of 69th Street between Connie Avenue and Louise Avenue. 
  10. Removals, grading, utility work, and asphalt paving on Beal Avenue south of 69th Street.
  11. Final grading and construction of storm drainage structures in the detention pond north of 69th Street and east of Avera Behavioral Health.
  12. Traffic signal installation at 69th Street and Beal Avenue and 69th Street and Mogen Avenue. 
     

Commuter Route Information

(street/intersection closures, detours, etc.)

  • One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained on 69th Street throughout construction. 
  • Beginning Friday, August 30, Connie Avenue, Mogen Avenue, and Beal Place will be open to the south of 69th Street. Beal Avenue will remain closed to the south.  
  • Beginning Friday, August 30, Connie Avenue and Sharon Avenue will be closed to the north of 69th Street.  Mogen Avenue will remain open.
  • Access to the Avera Heart Hospital and Behavioral Health complexes will be maintained throughout construction.
