Unity Bridge

Project Update 9/5/2023  

• Formwork assembly and decking for the bridge are approximately 70% complete.
• The concrete pour for the bridge deck is anticipated to occur overnight in early October.

• Concrete curb and gutter and pavement are being constructed on the south side of 6th Street east of the bridge.
• Public and private utility work continues east of the railroad tracks. 

Paving the Intersection of Cherapa Place and 6th Street

• This month, the contractor will begin a bore through rock for a 42” casing pipe under the railroad tracks.
• This pipe will carry the City water main and 19 separate conduits for various public and private utility lines.

Commuter Route Information: 

• 6th Street is closed to through traffic and pedestrians from Phillips Ave to Weber Ave.
• Access to LSS and Cherapa II will be maintained via 6th Street from Weber Ave.
• Access to the Harvester Building and Raven will be maintained via 6th Street from Phillips Ave.
• The River Greenway Recreation Trail, along the east bank of the Big Sioux River, will be closed from Eighth Street to the Falls Park entrance on Weber Avenue. The detour follows a route west of the Big Sioux River through downtown and along Phillips Avenue into Falls Park.
